Joost giving away invites

Joostâ„¢ the best of tv and the internet

I’ve been a big fan of Joost since I managed to get an invite a couple of weeks ago. In fact, seeing what Joost has to offer I’ve even considered ditching cable TV and going the Home Theater PC route all the way. Until now, getting in on all the Joost goodness has been a difficult process. You needed to either pester your online buddies or go forum / blog trolling to find someone giving away invites. Some sites, including Techcruch have been advertising link give-a-ways. As of today, Joost and TechCrunch have teamed up to give away invites to anyone who comes by. Well, at least the first 10,000 anyones who come by. So, if you’re still in the dark and want to find out what Joost is all about jump on over to http://www.joost.com/presents/techcrunch/ and get your invite. Hurry, supplies are limited.

Cheers,

-J

Update: I also have some Joost invites available. Leave your info in the comments and I might be kind enough to give you one. :)

Update [2]: It looks like TechCrunch aren’t the only ones to strike a deal to give away Joost invites, Ars Technica and some others seem to be in on it as well.

Cerulean Studios are the makers of Trillian, an instant messaging consolidation application that supports IRC, ICQ, AIM and MSN protocols. Data plans are the barrier to mobile Internet adoption

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

Ars Techinca is running a story regarding survey results that show that the price of data plans from cellular carriers are the biggest hurdle to widespread mobile Internet usage. I couldn’t agree more. If it weren’t for the fact that my employer foots the bill for my data plan so that I can respond to email 24/7, there’s no way I would pay the add on charges that Cingular leverages for data on my Treo 680. Since my employer started picking up the tab, I have come to love and rely on mobile data service and don’t know what I’d do without it. Here’s to hoping cell carriers see the light and make mobile data service affordable before I lose my job. :)

My Online Clone

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

So, I realize it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I have no excuses other than being lazy and busy. Given this, I found this digg story that might be able to help me out. I could create a CyberClone. The fine folks at mycybertwin.com have built a service that allows you to create an online clone of yourself that has its own webpage and can respond to MSN Messenger IMs on your behalf when you’re offline. Visit my cybertwin at http://www.mycybertwin.com/jeffstalnaker

Google adding tabs to personalized homepage?

tabs on google homepage

It looks like Google is test driving tabs on the personalized homepage. This popped up while browsing this afternoon, then disappeared after a page refresh. Personally, I can’t wait to unclutter and categorize my homepage widgets.

Update: This is now not going away. Looks like its for real and here to stay. woot!
